Brief Bio-Sketch
Dr. Saurav Pramanik is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur. He received his Ph.D. from IISc Bangalore in 2013 and previously worked as a Scientist at ABB Corporate Research, Sweden (now Hitachi Energy). His research interests include high-voltage engineering and power systems, with a focus on frequency response analysis (FRA) for transformer diagnostics (including AI/ML-based techniques), insulation coordination for grid-integrated renewable power systems, and electromagnetic simulation of high-voltage power apparatus. He has published in leading IEEE journals and is actively involved in sponsored research, consultancy, and Ph.D. supervision. He is a recipient of the POSOCO Power System Award and the Young Researcher Award at ISH 2013.

Key R&D Contributions
- FRAMAT & FRAPYT: Fully automated FRA measurement tools developed using MATLAB and Python
- Tank current–based FRA: Introduced for enhanced fault detection sensitivity
- Parametric evaluation method: Developed for faulty-phase identification in three-phase transformers using FRA data
- Reduced-order transformer models: Developed to reproduce both impulse and power-frequency responses
- Portable 40 kV DC Hi-Pot tester: Under manufacturing; a collaborative research outcome
